Physical Signs of Pregnancy

Before going to the doctor, several changes in the body will occur that will indicate that you may be pregnant. However, bear in mind that some women will experience all these changes, why some will only experience a few. Some of these changes are:

Breast Growth – Your breast will enlarge a little during this time and it may look a little darker than before. Enlargement will not necessarily be of great proportion, but it will be a bit bigger than usual. However, this is also a sign for some women that their monthly period is about to arrive.

Darker Areolas – this darkening usually begins within a week of conception, making it one of the earliest physical signs of pregnancy. The area around the nipples will darken and the bumps on the Areolas will become more pronounced.

Tiredness/exhaustion: the tiredness of early pregnancy can be worse than the sleepless nights after the baby is born. Women may find themselves wanting to sleep much longer or more often than usual and yet sleeping may have little impact on the feelings of tiredness and lethargy. It’s not unusual to spend a whole day in bed and still feel tired! This can be very disabling and the early weeks of pregnancy can seem unending. You may begin to worry: how will I cope with a baby if I can’t cope with feeling tired now? Fortunately this malaise does lift as the pregnancy progresses.

Flatulence or Gas: Pregnancy results in slowing down the digestive system. This results in different symptoms of indigestion like constipation, nausea and gas.

Of course there are physical signs of pregnancy like nausea, the need to use the toilet more often, the absence of your period, mood swings, fatigue and a heightened sense of taste and smell.
