Signs of Pregnancy

Many women seem to believe that a missed menstrual period should be associated with the possibility of being pregnant; however, in the early stages of pregnancy the majority of women experience also other symptoms and signs. It’s crucial to remember that a woman does not have to necessarily experience all the symptoms to the same degree. It is even possible for a not all women will experience all of these symptoms or have the symptoms to the same degree. Even the same woman can experience in her next pregnancy types of symptoms different to those she had in previous pregnancies.

The intensity, frequency and duration of pregnancy symptoms can also differ considerably. This basic list of early signs and symptoms of pregnancy should only be treated as a general guideline. Moreover, bear in mind that routine pre-menstrual discomforts can easily be mistaken for many of the earliest pregnancy symptoms. Therefore, if you are not trying to conceive, you might think it is just your period coming on again, when in fact you may be experiencing very early signs of pregnancy. On the other hand, if you are trying to conceive, you may be frustrated when the early symptoms of pregnancy you are experiencing turn out to be only pre-menstrual symptoms.

Remember, some of the earliest signs of pregnancy may be subtle and not obvious at a first glance. If there is any reason to believe that you might be experiencing early signs of pregnancy, you should do a home pregnancy test.

• Missed period: probably the most obvious early symptom of pregnancy is the missing period. This possible sign of pregnancy is often what makes women to search for more detailed information about the other pregnancy symptoms.

• Feeling pregnant: This symptom probably is the reason why you are reading this article. Many women are believed to have an intuition about pregnancy signs. In many cases their intuition proved to be correct.

• Breast tenderness: This early sign of pregnancy is very easy to notice, as your breast becomes tender, swollen, and somewhat sore. You may notice this pregnancy sign at bedtime when you are trying to get comfortable and go to sleep, when exercising or showering, or when getting dressed.

• Frequent urination: another early symptom of pregnancy that others may notice you experiencing is frequent trips to the toilet. A family member or a friend may notice that you seem to be going off to the restroom quite often lately. This pregnancy symptom is caused by the swelling uterus that puts pressure on your bladder.

• Nausea: one of these pregnancy signs of queasiness, nausea and vomiting can take you by surprise when you least expect it. These early pregnancy symptoms may appear very soon, even after a week into the pregnancy. Many women suffer from nausea in the morning when they have coffee or eat something on an empty stomach. This symptom is called morning sickness. Some women experience nausea in the afternoon or evening. Others can feel queasy all day.
