What are the signs of pregnancy? Are there any symptoms that help to detect the pregnancy before a pregnancy test? Many readers would be surprised to know that answer is YES! There are few signs of pregnancy that help to confirm conception even before home pregnancy test.
The signs of pregnancy are those changes which can be objectively observed by a woman, her doctor or both. Early in pregnancy these signs can be confused with other conditions but in the last half of pregnancy there can be little doubt about a woman’s condition. Some of these signs do not occur in every pregnant woman. Others, however, always accompany pregnancy.
Change in the skin. From the beginning of pregnancy certain areas of the skin may become more heavily pigmented. At first the pigmentation is localized around the nipples and in a straight line down the middle of abdomen. This is usually quite apparent about the end of the second month. Pigmentation in the form of blotches may appear on the face, hands, or other parts of the body. When they occur on the face they are sometimes termed the “mask of pregnancy”. Wherever this pigmentation occurs, however, it is only temporary and disappears after childbirth.
It is natural for you to experience a lot of pain around the lower back because your weight undergoes changes and the center of gravity on your body begins to shift to the front portion or the middle portion of your body. Though you may not believe this, it is this displacement of gravity that really makes your back feel very strained while it tries very hard to adjust itself to your new balance.
Pregnancy can cause extreme fatigue in some women and a noticeable lack of energy could be an early sign of pregnancy. Again this is due to the change in hormones. This can last for the first trimester before the body gets used to the hormone changes.
Morning sickness or nausea can occur in very early pregnancy. Some women experience severe nausea while others may not experience this at all. However, it should be noted that while called ‘morning sickness’ this nausea is not restricted to morning times and could occur at any time of the day.
Before you visit your doctor, wait till your have missed your period or taken a home pregnancy test to determine pregnancy. The above-mentioned signs are very early signs of pregnancy and can provide information about your condition even before you miss a period.
At the same time, you must remember that very early signs of pregnancy need not really mean pregnancy. They could very well mean the beginning of another monthly cycle or some physical illness. If you notice any of these signs within you and you suspect pregnancy, take a pregnancy test or wait for a missed period before you see your doctor.
